Some 40 years ago, the teaching was the engineers follow the charts and
formulas, whereas physicsts solve the problem at root.
What problem did physicists ever solve? They have created the problems by developing and teaching wrong theories leading to wrong practices and ideas, flowering in such serials as the Big Bang Theory. They are a lazy, obtuse lot which will not learn new things that upset their cosy theories, upon which they make their living. But like politicians, the successful physicists have great social skills, and prey upon the gullibility of the public with similar institutionalisation strategies.
Their wrong theories have corrupted human nature, leading to immense suffering, which cannot but continue. To protect their precious and wrong theories, they will neglect new insights and discoveries in science. Such as the insight of tectonic plates, and my discovery of the Lorentz force having no reaction with the invention of a new design (heavy armature, low voltage) rail gun.
Engineers do not just follow charts and formulas. They create charts and formulas with their worldly experience, create global standards, publish their works unless constrained by business or political interests, and always, get the immediate job done. Physics is just one subject they must learn among many others, to realize their goal, which is to increase comforts and conveniences with higher efficiencies on one hand,

In India, the best route for a MSc(Physics) is to do a M.Tech and then call oneself an engineer.
